The PI

We are at a moment when rapid growth in biological data and advances in computation are reshaping how biological research is done. Our lab develops machine learning and AI methods for fundamental problems in genomics, with a current focus on understanding the regulatory rules encoded in genome sequence. I aim to lead a research team that is creative, diverse, supportive, and fun.

The lab is supported by an NIH Director's New Innovator Award (DP2) and an NHGRI R01 award, with past support from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas and the UTSW Endowed Scholar program.
